DAIS Core Leadership role and responsibilities:
:
The
Core Leadership is a small group of EC (Executive Committee) members who work
directly with the DAIS adult advisors. This group is comprised of no more than 7 active and committed Executive Committee members who are chosen through election by their peers and/or, if necessary, by the
adult advisors.
The Core Leadership should be no more than:
2
students- grade 12
2 students- grade 11
2 students- grade 10
1 student- grade 9
Responsibilities include:
Meeting with the DAIS adult
advisors at some time before each EC meeting to discuss issues and determine some policies for the organization. (Commitment
exhibited by missing no more than three of the year’s meetings.)
Leading the Executive Committee in their planning of activities and agenda for each monthly general meeting.
Facilitating the EC meeting.
Filling in as co-host and/or
facilitator for monthly general meetings when needed.
Encouraging and
communicating with the chairs of DAIS activity or project committees as well as planning committees for the annual conference.
Serving as a positive representative of and spokesperson for DAIS as an organization to
people in the community, at conferences and other activities.
Working with the
DAIS adult advisors towards the overall growth, stability and future of the organization.
You can nominate EC members who you feel are a fit for the role and responsibilities. This can
include nominating yourself. Nominations should be emailed to me at DAISOrg@aol.com, by Friday, October 7,
2011.
They will be posted by Tuesday, October 11. Vote for your choice by Wednesday, October 19.
The Core Leadership for the 2011 - 2012
school year will be announced on Friday, October 22,2011, at the general DAIS meeting.
The Core Leadership has been chosen by elections during the past four years. Previous
to that, the Core Leadership was chosen by the adult advisors, based on who was active and committed to DAIS and who exhibited
the qualities needed to take on the above-mentioned responsibilities. We are looking for the student membership of DAIS to
make that decision again, thus the importance in participating through your vote! Obviously, if help in choosing is needed
from the adult advisors, it will be provided. Remember, this is not just a popularity contest and it is not limited to 12th graders!
